Jathu and Vakshi celebrated their Tamil Hindu wedding at New Ladssume Hall in Thinnaveli, Jaffna, surrounded by family, friends and the rituals that shaped the day.
Lumera Studio photographed the ceremony with a documentary approach, focusing not only on the couple but also on the atmosphere around them — the mandapam, traditional details, family gatherings and quiet moments that made the celebration feel personal.
The hall was dressed with garlands, carved panels and traditional elements that gave the ceremony a distinctly Tamil character. Rather than forcing every moment into a posed frame, we allowed the ritual and the people around it to lead the photographs naturally.
One of the images from the ceremony was kept in black and white, allowing the structure of the mandapam, the light of the hall and the gathering around the couple to become the focus of the frame.
For Lumera Studio, wedding photography in Jaffna is about preserving more than how a wedding looked. It is about keeping the people, traditions and atmosphere recognisable years later.
Jathu and Vakshi’s wedding at Thinnaveli was one of those celebrations where the setting, ceremony and family presence all became part of the story.
