Some photography stories begin with a first enquiry. Others begin with trust that has already been built.
Before photographing Pio and Leema, Lumera Studio had previously been chosen to document the registration celebration of Leema’s brother. So when another important chapter arrived for the family, they returned to Lumera once again.
This time, the story belonged to Pio and Leema.
Ahead of their registration function on 25 October 2026, the couple wanted a Save the Date session that felt relaxed, personal and different from a conventional studio portrait. We took the shoot outdoors, into the green landscapes of Jaffna, where the open surroundings created a natural setting for the couple and their story.
The session carried a casual, youthful character. Rather than building every frame around formal posing, we worked with the couple’s interaction, movement and the atmosphere around them. Their two colourful cars became part of the concept, adding contrast and personality against the soft greenery of the location without taking attention away from Pio and Leema themselves.
For Lumera Studio, the most meaningful part of this session was not simply creating another set of couple portraits. It was being trusted by the same family again for another milestone.
When people return to Lumera after experiencing our work before, it tells us something photographs alone cannot — that the way a moment is handled, photographed and delivered matters just as much as the final image.
Pio and Leema’s Save the Date session became a relaxed outdoor story of two people preparing for their next chapter, photographed in the familiar landscapes of Jaffna before their registration celebration.
And for Lumera, it became another story built on something we value deeply:
trust that returns.
